Outlook 2003 keeps on notifying mailbox is full.

March 1st, 2006 · No Comments

My company is using Microsoft Exchange for their email server. Staffs (at least for me) will have 40MB email space on the server. I used to clean up my emails on the server so that it won’t exceed 40MB. Recently I faced a funny scenario in which even though I deleted emails and is below 40MB, the server still sending email saying that my mailbox is full. You can check the mailbox size by right-clicking “Mailbox – ” from the left frame, then choose “Properties for Mailbox – ” -> “Folder Size”.

After taking a further look, it appeared that someone enabled “Use Cached Exchange Mode” at:

Tools -> Email Accounts -> View or change existing email accounts -> Microsoft Exchange Server -> Change -> More Settings -> “Advanced” tab

This resulted in “Server” mailbox size is bigger than the “Local” one since both does not synchronize, and I can’t find any option to synchronize them.

To solve this issue, uncheck “Use Cached Exchange Mode”. Close and re-run Outlook 2003 again.
