I personally own a Radeon 9600 AGP card on my good old Pentium III machine. Late of last year I purchased an LCD monitor with DVI input. Using DVI input, I found out that the image is sharper compared to analog.

The problem is, if you connected only DVI to your AGP card, you will receive a blank screen when reaching WinXP login screen (boot screen is okay). The only workaround is to unplug the DVI cable at the AGP card and reconnect it again.

If you connected both DVI and analog to the AGP card, WinXP is able to boot properly. When playing movies, however, you will still receive blank screen if switched to DVI mode.

After suffering from this method for months, I found out that the latest Radeon driver (as of today is Catalyst 7.5) did solve the issue. You may give it a try if you experience the same issue.
