Experience with Fake Memory Stick Duo

March 18th, 2008 · No Comments

If you are purchasing a PSP and the shop dealer offers you Memory Stick Duo at bargain price, most probably it is a fake unit. Unlike fake thumbdrive seen in the market, the memory card actually comes with the correct approximate capacity even though there is still slight different between original and fake capacity in few MB. The different is, of course, the quality and the performance. You can identify the fake memory card from outside, such as:
- the box’s edge has round non-secure seals. Original one has square secure seals.
- it has an extra “T on the part number. Original one does not has “T” character.
- PSP shows unsupported MagicGate when using fake one.

For more information, you can visit this guide at eBay. My suggestion is, ask the shop dealer not to include the memory stick. Get an original 8GB one so that you rest assure on the quality to prevent any data lost. 4GB is okay as well but will not hold many games nowaday. It is also technically proved that the game loading speed is faster Memory Stick Micro (M2) + adapter are used instead.
