We all are consumers, regardless we are buying something or eating out. When shopping, sometimes we preferred one shopping mall than another. Why it is so? An expert came out with few factors affecting consumer’s decision in shopping:
Factors affecting consumer’s buying:
- Price (e.g. sales. It can also be expensive stuff representing a person’s prestige)
- Prestige
- Practicality (e.g. easy parking system, ample parking space)
- Packaging
- Pleasant (e.g. basic infrastructure on the mall)
- Psychological
About psychological, there are 2 types of people basically. One is they shop because they like to meet somebody, and say “hi” to them. They like to shop during weekend, or when a new mall is opened. Another type is another way around, which prefer not to be seen by a known person.
As a whole, here’s things that motivate people to shop:
- Convenience
- Coupon, Compare (e.g. get discount voucher, ask relatives/friends for opinions)
- Crowd lovers (e.g. some prefer places with many people, but is not overcrowded)
- Computer (e.g. shop/order from Internet)
These can be points to consider if you are planning to setup a retail business.
