Pulau Payar (Part 2) – Now Eating

January 30th, 2010 · No Comments

The lunch hour is from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm. There were about 30 variants of food including appetizer, drinks, and desserts. Note that it is a halal buffet. I was not sure whether or not the items will be the same each time we visit the place but it was an international cuisine.

Brown House @ Brown Road

January 14th, 2010 · 11 Comments

As a whole, Brown House did provide some unique dishes other than traditional cuisine we found in most of the cafes. Other than pork, they serve beer as well. The parking is convenience. The restaurant also provides free WIFI and delivery service around that area. Probably a new gathering place at Pulau Tikus area.

About 2 months ago I reviewed Sushi Kitchen, a genuine vegetarian Japanese restaurant in Sungai Ara. It is a place for nice food and relaxation. I re-visited it recently, just to found out that it will terminate its business end of December 2009.

Feeling unsatisfied, we crawled to Old Town for second round of lunch. As a whole, D’Food Garden need improvements on their environment, food quality and quantity. It is still a long way to go but if things go well, it should be a successful restaurant in the area.

Noodle Station (Part 2 – Drink)

October 26th, 2009 · No Comments

As a whole, with so many unique drinks, this restaurant should be renamed to “drink station” (just joking.. perhaps “noodle and drink station”…. or “noodle, rice, and drink station”… or “Hamik Also Got Station”…

Noodle Station (Part 1 – Food)

October 20th, 2009 · 3 Comments

As a whole (for food version), I still prefer the Tom Yam Fried Rice. For the noodle, customers may find themselves difficult to differentiate between instant noodle and the noodle from Noodle Station. The restaurant should also make the dish more presentable, such as putting noodles into smaller bowl to make them look bigger in portion instead of scatter it on jumbo plate.

Sushi Kitchen – Healthy Vegetarian Japanese Food

October 8th, 2009 · 3 Comments

As a whole, I would recommend this restaurant. The ambient is good, the price is reasonable and the food is prepared at healthier side. However, Penangites which prefer heavier taste may find themselves difficult to adapt at first. Also, as raw materials are prepared on the spot to ensure their freshness, it takes time for the food to arrive. You can make reservation first if you are rushing back for work during lunch time. For cheap labor like me who already “looked open” and hopeless, I rather spend my second half of my working day sleeping below tatami there.
