Siam Express (Queensbay Mall)

Siam Express (Queensbay Mall)

When Queensbay Mall was first opened, many negative comments were received from customers having their meals at Siam Express, especially on their service. 2 years had passed. Thinking their service may already been improved, I paid them a visit.

I am kind of resisted to this restaurant whenever I saw their menu. Thai food for northern guys like me is just like the food next door. The items in the menu are simply not worth the value. Takes the Thai First Flavour Combo as an example. It costs RM18.90++ and comes with money bags, spring rolls, lemongrass chicken, and seafood cake according to the menu. Sadly, the chicken is actually just 2 x chicken wing drums. The seafood cake is just 2 x nuggets, and the money bags can usually be seen in Chinese cold plates.

Happy Hour Laksa

Fortunately, I reached there before 5pm and ordered one Happy Hour Laksa with 50% discount which is equal to RM8.95 (default RM17.90). It tastes good and not so spicy. The white noodle and soup are separated so you can mix them together yourself.

Both dishes, however, cost me RM30.65 inclusive 10% tax.

:stunt:

If you ask me when is my next visit to the restaurant…. there is no answer for now.

i think their food is great and the price is okay because it is in a Mall. Attap restaurant do not pay premium rental. I should know better because i am a Thai from Bangkok. Period. When it comes to Thai foods i know better than you. Reason is because i was born Thais and you? Thank you.

Well..i’ve decided to walked into Siam Express Gurney which was on 4.11.2009 thought of having a changes as Queensbay Siam Express provided lousy services BUT Gurney also the same thing going on i guess..bad service plus the beverage was too sweet as i requested for less sugar! The chinese manager also very dissapointing plus the service crew..they ignored me all the time,i mean the shop was not really busy yet fishball in the tomyam noodle are not fresh! I wanted to bring this matter uo to the person incharge but seems like i was invisible to them..very very dissapointing..

    Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for the info. Looks like their service quality remained the same.

Just shared some info..i guess it would be remain the same with no changes which was a sad thing and the food >were actually quite expensive including service tax (do you seriously think it’s worthy to pay for the service tax) i will never say YES to thai food at Siam Express again,no way! Plus i’m so not agree with Wisakha Nomthanthum up there as she claimed that she is a thai from Bangkok, have she really try the food in Siam Express?? If yes, then she should have known about the bad services provided as she was so concerned just about the food. I would suggest you all to try Aroi thai restaurant at Pulau Tikus which were much better and the price also reasonable

Hi Jonathan, the chef from Aroi got fired from Siam Express long time ago (I heard from Thai temple). I ordered pork leg in Aroi but disappointed coz there’s smell not fresh inside. May be he never cook pork leg before coz Siam express is pork free. I went to Siam express in Queensbay and Gurney quite oftens and didn’t have any problem with their food & service. There’s a big Chinese manager who always speak lound but treated me and my family very well even he didn’t know that I’m a Thai. We ordered Family set with special price and enjoyed the food very much. There’re many recommended items and Happy hours for 50% discount which you can afford to pay if not try a Thai hawker in Onestop or road side one in Lim Leng Teng without service charge. I think you should call their management for your matter if you are real customer (not one of their competiter).

I’m a thai married chinese and live here more than 10 yrs. I prefer Thai food with pork like in Thailand but I like many dishes in Siam express. I saw some positive comments from their customers yesterday in ” Malaysian food blog ” of “Vkeong” but he deleted the good comments because people complained him. I used my post name as “a Thai with your mother’s age” but he put the fake bad comment instead. I feel pity to “Vkeong”, he’s chicken behind laptop! He’s upset to this restaurant because he couldn’t get a free belacan sauce and he cannot afford to try other recommended items except their fried rice. You can get free belacan sauce in Chokdee Thai restaurant but they’d already charged to your bill like the peanut in Chinese restaurant and their prices are more expensive than Siam Express. Me and my family ate their before but no more because my children couldn’t wait the food so long. It taked more than half an hour to serve just one table! Anyhow the food, service and prices in Siam express are average for big complex here. They’re not fine dining restaurant. Vkeong’s demand must be very high but he’s tounge problem! and racist! because he don’t like anything in black included their black indian staff! Don’t forget that one day you have to wear black for your mother’s funeral! I hope you dare to post my comment, Kob khun kha.

Hi everybody, Voon Keong from Malaysian food blog had already scared and chicken out of the debat. He’s the one who put the fake comments under the name of ” Thai with your mother’s age” which is my post name and blame to the staff of Siam Express so who is the most disgusting here? It’s not difficult to know his identity but who care? If you want to be a food critic so you must be able to accept other people comments! I think he must has the bad body odour and carry his camera around like professional and hope all the restaurant will respect him. Don’t be a shame if your standard is only hawker food! and don’t try to be somebody if you’re nobody!
