Shen Food & Beverages 陞陞卤味专卖店 is a new food outlet opened on 9-Sep-2016 at i-Avenue, Bayan Lepas, Penang. We stumbled upon this new shop offering braised delicacy when we were planning to visit Grand Yong Tofu on the same shop lot (Yes, it was closed and replaced with Shen).
Chicken rice is a type of hawker food so common that you will find it in almost all coffee shops. The birds can be either roasted to deep golden brown or boiled to retain tenderness. Today, we bring you to a stall selling boiled chicken 白切鸡 which is probably the best in Bayan Lepas, Penang area.
Enough of soya bean! Time for main course! Located at a walking distance were two Nga Choi Kai (Bean Sprout Chicken) shops opened side-by-side – Lou Wong (老黄) and Onn Kee (安记). I had visited Lou Wong last time so this time I paid Onn Kee a visit.
After having dim sum at Foh San restaurant, we let our food digested by walking around. We went to Gunung Lang but it was spoiled by a government event there, in which whole place was blasted with rock music. We then went to Perak Cave 霹雳洞. It was an enjoyable place (I will post its pictures in Facebook later). After that, it was time for lunch so we decided for “Nga Choi Kai” (Bean sprouts chicken) this time.
“Where is table 22?”. That’s one of the questions I heard from one of the waitresses on the opening day (Jul-21-2009) of Double Good (好好) Hong Kong Style Roasters restaurant in Batu Maung, Penang. It is the 3rd branch of Double Good (first in Bukit Jambul, second one in Prai’s Autocity). I like to have lunch in Bukit Jambul branch which is famous with its Indonesia Shrimps (印尼虾) and “Three Cup” Chicken (三杯鸡). This 3rd branch took different strategy by offering customers Hong Kong roasted duck/chicken/pork as their main course. Let’s see how’s the first day look like.
