Nyonya Nasi Ulam with Ayam Percik – one of the best items we sampled during our visit to the new Relish restaurant (Halal) at Gurney Paragon, Penang. It comes with our favorite Keropok Lekor – traditional fish cracker from East Coast. A uniquely Malaysian cuisine hardly found in other regions of the world.
Fried porridge 炒粥 – overnight porridge fried with salted pork belly, Chinese Chive, dried shredded squid, and soy sauce. The smallest size (RM9) serves 2-3 persons. You never know that plain porridge which usually taken when a person is sick can taste so good. It is no longer a stranger for Penangites but if you would like to try the original one, go to Serdang, Kedah, namely Fong Ting Siew 峰亭秀 restaurant.
Those visited Gurney Paragon Mall should be familiar with SAM’s Groceria – a premium supermarket located at basement floor with a delicatessen next to it. On 22-August-2014, the second outlet was opened at Straits Quay at Tanjong Tokong, Penang.

As people are getting more concern on healthy food, sandwich bar quickly becomes an alternative to chain fast food restaurants. As a starter, we have Subway chain sandwich bar. Then, we have O’Briens which is a bit pricey. Now, we have Sandwhich offering some quality ingredients you won’t find in any other sandwich bars.
It is raining session recently and it is good to enjoy some warm soups for dinner – such as Tom Yam soup. Cherry Blossom used to be a famous Thai restaurant in town which operated more than 10 years ago. Is the Sungai Ara branch as good as before?
Another laksa stall I frequently visited in Balik Pulau is the one at Jalan Bahru, or better known as Laksa and Hokkien Mee house since they are selling both items at their resident house during weekend at a reasonable price of RM2.80 each. Continue reading
