Located next to famous snake temple in Penang is a coffee shop called Yong Yao 永耀茶餐室 having food stalls which can be counted by one hand. Perhaps the most popular stall is a stall selling steamed rice at RM4.50 each.

Valuable Set Meals
“Master Huang”, a label telling you which chef prepared this dish so that you can complain to the right chef in case the food suck. This is one of the uniqueness I found in Xuan Xin – a new restaurant (opposite of SenQ store) opened in Queensbay Mall.
Unlimited Sashimi in Weekend Afternoon
What? Another “no camera” restaurant? The door opened at 11:30am sharp so basically you don’t have a chance to snap photos before customers arrival. Anyway, we took most items to our table, decorated, snapped, and shared with you here, including this salmon sashimi which I enjoyed the most.
All time durian. Lucky you!
In Malaysia, durian season starts in June and ends in August. For those who missed it, there are still few options: 1) Get all season lower grade durians, 2) Eat durian candy/cake instead, 3) Try Durian Wrapz (RM5.00) made of D13 at Lucky Dessert.
Too good to be true
Update (Dec/14): Running out of stock?
I am not a marketing expert and not sure what kind of marketing strategy they use, but I just got myself two set of Double Zinger Burger with a softdrink and french fries… FOC!! The expiry date is one month (til 15-Jan-2012) but I think in less than a week, KFC will close down its shop if it still remains valid.
Japanese and Chinese Fusion Buffet Dinner @ E&O
I tried E&O buffet couple of times, sometimes company events, sometimes just with friends. My last visit was two weeks ago with some under “stressed” colleagues. We selected Wednesday since the theme was “Japanese & Chinese Fusion Buffet Dinner” (RM78.00++).
Don’t they have other name?
Jiak Wong (食王) Bak Kut Teh is very common in northern region. Back to my hometown in Sungai Petani, there were two stalls having the same name. The same applies to Bukit Mertajam. I am not sure whether or not they have any relationship. Thinking of comparing those in BM, I visited 食王 (槟城) Good Master (Penang) recently.
Hidden Gem in Kulim
If you were a chef, what you will do after retiring? Some may just sit at home and play with kids. For Derek, this is not the case. Hidden in one of the villages in Kulim is a resident house converted to western restaurant, namely Derek’s – Passion for Food. I was told that the chef was once a hotel chef in Penang island.
Beer Promotion @ Z-Classroom
I am not a beer lover due to fatty liver. Anyway, once a while I will drink “a bit”, especially during Chinese festivals/events or just when tired working. Recently, I re-visited Times Square Penang and found this “classroom” – Z Classroom.
Shellfish Galore @ G-Cafe
After posting buffet promotions in G-Cafe of G-Hotel, my friends saw the post and decided to give the Shellfish Galore theme on Monday a try. In our opinion, it was one of the most valuable themes with “Buy 1 Free 1” promotion (only for Sep/Oct 2011).
