1 x Siew Mai, 1 x Har Kao, 1 x Fish Ball, 1 x Lor Mai Kai (alike), and 1 x Pot of Tea. How much for the bill, you guess?

Anything healthier you have to cook it yourself

Update 16-Jul-2013: Sweet-i is moved to Taman Lip Sin, opposite of Super Tanker Food Court. See Google map at the end of this post.

Sweet-i, Sungai Dua, Penang

Dessert houses are blooming in Penang island. Most of them emphasized on taste (e.g. sweetness) and appearance (e.g. served by pretty girls) rather than the desserts’ nutrition. Sweet-i, however, is an exception.

Pork free (Sweet) Thai food

Tom Yam Seafood

It is raining session recently and it is good to enjoy some warm soups for dinner – such as Tom Yam soup. Cherry Blossom used to be a famous Thai restaurant in town which operated more than 10 years ago. Is the Sungai Ara branch as good as before?

Laksa and Hokkien Mee (and Loh Bak)

Jalan Bahru Laksa and Hokkien Mee

Another laksa stall I frequently visited in Balik Pulau is the one at Jalan Bahru, or better known as Laksa and Hokkien Mee house since they are selling both items at their resident house during weekend at a reasonable price of RM2.80 each. Continue reading

Laksa with Pai Tee @ Balik Pulau

Laksa

July is a happening month in Balik Pulau thanks to durian session. Other than that, it is good to try out Balik Pulau’s laksa as well. We had a “Laksa Jiak Ba Ba” trip last month and one of the stalls we found was a resident house along the windy road to Teluk Bahang.

You want soup for what?

Pao Xiang Bah Kut Teh

There are occasions in which you will be given tough questions, even by the restaurant’s host. There were only few reasons I could think of when a Bak Kut Teh restaurant’s asked you why you need more soup:

  1. Use as holy water and put it in bath tub
  2. Wash my car
  3. Take it back, reverse engineer and open a new Bak Kut Teh shop.

Seafood Ginger Milk & Laksa @ RotiBakar

Kafe RotiBakar University Place, Penang

Oops! Since when RotiBakar imposed “No Photographing” sign? This is great disappointment especially when I wanna promote them (for free). Anyway, it had been a long time since I been there. I heard that the menu had changed and their new item – Seafood Ginger Milk 海鲜牛奶薑 (RM6.90++) was quite yummy. So, here I am again. (By the way, if you see photos here, this means I neglected the sign.)

Variety of food. Problem: $$.

Sg. Pinang Food Court, Penang

It was another hiking evening in which I had difficulty in finding a place to dine in. Thinking of saving some $$, I eventually landed on Sg. Pinang Food Court, which appeared to be not a very good choice.

Mini Steamboat @ Taiwan Food Midlands

Taiwan Food @ Midlands

It had been 3 years since I first blogged about this place. It still remains as one of my favorite places to dine in due to its cozy and relaxing environment. It was one evening in which I was craving for Taiwanese food (despite of some negative news) after hiking at Youth Park, and I stopped by here again for… mini steamboat.
